Is it legal to street perform in Las Vegas?

Yes.

Do I need a license/permit to street perform?

It depends. For The Strip, no license is needed. For Fremont Street, there is a registration process (see here).

In general, street performing is protected by the 1st Amendment, and therefore doesn’t shouldn’t require permission from city and state governments. However, some local governments have gotten away with licensing (e.g City of Las Vegas, Chicago, Santa Monica). Sidewalks and bridges are public property, and therefore free speech forums. That includes the nicely paved sidewalk in front of the Venetian. District Court of Nevada upheld that having a tip jar is permissible.

However, this won’t stop the police or security guards from occasionally harassing you. For tips on what to do if you get stopped, click here.

How much money can I make busking?

That depends on you, your act, your talent, where you perform, and how long you stay out.

Where’s the best spot to perform?

That depends on a lot of factors. You’ll have to come out and try different spots to see what works for you. (I’m also not giving away good pitches to strangers. Don’t expect other performers to either.)

What’s the best time of day to street perform?

That also depends on you, your act, …etc. You’ll have to come out and perform to see what’s the best fit for you.
