“Bridges are crosswalks” ordinance tabled for good!

by Brandon Summers | March 17, 2023

In April 2022, Commissioner Tick Segerblom thought it would be prudent to designate Las Vegas Strip pedestrian bridges as crosswalks. It was a bad idea that thankfully never came to fruition; and to be fair, Segerblom doesn’t deserve all the blame. Gotta give credit where credit is due and give a participation ribbon to the Nevada Resort Association, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), and probably the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). These are the usual corporate goons who make elected officials do their bidding in the interest of the billion dollar gaming and tourism industry– rarely in the interest in of the public when it comes to issues the resort corridor.

Thankfully this horrendous idea (which street performers had somewhat been aware of for years) was met with resistance. Big shout-out to the ACLU of Nevada and all those who spoke up in opposition.
